Manapany is embedded in the island’s culture, often cosmopolitan, sometimes reminiscent of Brittany. Always loquacious, it reveals its secrets, one by one. We savor them in little sips, like chilled champagne or a well-aged dark rum. Prepared in a dream-shaker, its cocktails combine local colors and flavors. At the bar, they can be enjoyed in fine company. Our eyes wander across the room, expecting to see Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald dancing on the other side, or ready to talk the night away with Hemingway or Bogart, in a white tux at the bar.

The cuisine also combines the best ingredients that the island has to offer. Seafood, aromatic herbs, fruits and vegetables grown right here in the domain… Brimful of complex aromas, subtly cooked with fresh spices, the food on our plates remains simple and genuine. Meanwhile, over the grill we hear the songs of the lobster, like gourmet poetry. In a land of rum, the sweeter pleasures are no less important. The island’s brown nectar fills baba pastries, flavors the gâteau nantais, and brings a new spin on the crêpe suzette.

Le Manapany est imprégné de la culture de l’île, cosmopolite souvent, bretonne parfois. Volubile, il nous en révèle un à un les secrets ; nous les savourons à petites gorgées, comme un champagne frais ou un vieux rhum ambré. Secoués dans le shaker du rêve, ses cocktails distillent couleurs et saveurs locales. Au bar, on les apprécie en belle compagnie. Des yeux, nous cherchons Scott et Zelda Fitzgerald à l’horizon qui dansent, et pour bavarder de tout et de rien, Morand ou Déon, en smoking blanc.

La cuisine, elle aussi, tire le meilleur parti de la nature insulaire. Poissons, crustacés, herbes aromatiques, fruits et légumes du domaine… Toutes de senteurs complexes, de cuissons subtiles, de fraîcheurs épicées, elle sait rester simple et vraie dans l’assiette, et sur le grill, nous écoutons chaque soir la chanson des langoustes, comme une poésie gourmande. Les plaisirs sucrés ne sont pas en reste au pays du rhum. L’or brun de l’île gorge les babas, souligne les gâteaux nantais et réinvente les crêpes suzette.

The restaurant and bar celebrate the exceptional richness of the island, crossing frontiers to bring in other cuisines. Fish, shellfish, aromatic herbs, fruits and vegetables from the garden: innovative recipes to share in a convivial manner.

Mieral chicken from Bresse or suckling pig on a spit, Wahoo Carpaccio, Wahoo or Mahi Mahi Ceviche… allow yourself to go on a unique guided tour of culinary surprises.

Sweet pleasures are drawn from the island’s love affair with rum, the amber gold of the Caribbean sweetens Baba au Rum, accents Nantes cakes, and reinvents crêpes suzettes.

The Chefs

The ultra-local menu created by chef Anthony Martel reflects his passion for Mediterranean cuisine. The chef and his staff are at the heart of the ecology movement with a strong respect for the environment that is reflected in their cuisine, which includes local fish, West Indian recipes, organic fruit and vegetables, and seasonal products with an exotic touch. And you won’t be able to resist the gourmet desserts created by pastry chef Hugo.
